Milk Shares

Header_logo1_1040-1024x331

A limited number of raw milk herd shares are available throughout the year. Since it is illegal to sell raw milk in Colorado, we use the herd share system. Buying into the herd allows you legal access to the milk. You can purchase your share with a one-time, non-refundable fee of $10. Every month thereafter, you will pay a “boarding fee” which entitles you to 1 gallon of milk per week. By Colorado Law, milk must be picked up at Bad Alibi Dairy Goats. We are convenient to Bennett, Strasburg, and Byers.

The milk produced at Bad Alibi Dairy Goats is rich and sweet, without the musky flavor associated with goat’s milk. Part of that is due to pristine handling, and part is due to the breed of goats that we have chosen. We hand milk our goats which allows us to not only spend individual time with our animals but also to be alerted of any problems as quickly as possible. Our animals very rarely come in contact with the bucket and milk is discarded if they do. This can affect the availability if this occurs.

Alibi Dairy Goats is a member in good standing of the Raw Milk Association of Colorado. We adhere to their high standards by submitting milk samples monthly for independent testing. The milk is tested for bacterial load, E. Coli 0157, Salmonella and coliforms.  Additional testing for Listeria and Campylobacter can be performed at request's costs . Results are available upon request. More information can be obtained by visiting www.rawmilkcolorado.org.
